Believe it or not, I’ve not really done much decorating for the 4th of July before. Maybe a flag hung outside at the front door, but that's about it. I'm not sure why I haven't done more but this year I decided to do a little more than just hang the flag outside. I decided to dress up my kitchen table for the holiday and make it very patriotic. But I didn't really have a lot of money to spend. So the first thing I did was shop my own house for anything that would work. I actually had some neat things that would work! I did buy a few things, but I did this simple tablescape for about $5. Here's how I did it! The tablecloth and candle are from the Dollar Tree ~ $2The ... read more

Casual Sexism is not ok
Yesterday, I experienced something that shouldn't have shocked me, but it did. With everything going on right now I would have figured that the majority of people are being super careful about their speech, but I guess not. I guess some things are so ingrained that it's as casual as ordering a pizza. Well, I'm not a pizza. Here's what happened. My son's Jeep needed a new battery. We went to our local Advance Auto store where we've gone many times (they've been great, so this is no reflection on them, just this one person) to get his battery tested and hopefully get him a new one. No big deal. It was pretty obvious the man that helped us either didn't have a clue or just flat out ... read more

How to help your student write “Wicked Good Prose”
As a former homeschool mom, one of the areas I felt was the most difficult for me personally to teach was Writing and English. I love writing! How in the world could that be so difficult? Math was my hardest subject, shouldn't that have been the hardest to teach? Yes and no. With math, there's one thing that made it a little easier to teach, and it's not that much of a secret. Want to know that little tidbit of information that made math somewhat easier to teach? The answers were in the back of the book or at least in the answer key. Facepalm! So yes, math was not so bad until we got into the higher maths and I could call in back up, also know as Dad, and then even I go even ... read more
Goat Yoga Birthday with helpful tips for a great class
In February, I finally got to try out a goat yoga class and it was so much fun! You might think I'm crazy but it honestly was a blast. My youngest daughter, Emily, is crazy about goats. She's been begging for years for us to get goats and we seriously thought about it, but because of coyotes here, we'd have to get a donkey too and that's a lot. So, she has settle for getting to cuddle goats when she can. Enter goat yoga! A few years ago we heard a lot of people talking about goat yoga classes but there were none here. We thought the classes sounded like they'd be fun. I like yoga and goats, and Emily likes goats. What could be more fun? Unfortunately, the classes were mostly in ... read more
