Because Homeschooling Is A Lifestyle

Spring is here and a Makeover Cottage Style!

March 21, 2011

Burning Bush (aka Flowering Quince

Spring has sprung in my flower garden and its favorite color is red!  My Burning Bush is the fiercest red that I’ve ever seen.

The tulips that I planted in the fall were “Surprise” red!

DSCF4086Now for the real work today!  My brand new “Cottage Style” entryway garden and walkway is going in.  Today is step one!  Boy am I beat!  I went inside at 4:30 pm and fell asleep! Shhhh… don’t tell anyone!  Then I woke up and went out and worked some more.

This is the before picture of the front of our house.  Cute house, but not so pretty entry.  No walkway to the steps, the holly bushes need trimming and it just needs help!  Blah…blah..boring!DSCF4084This is my entryway now!  I don’t know if you can tell, but my Aunt and Uncle brought over their giant tiller and we made the path for the walkway and new flower beds.  The walkway will curve to the driveway and the flower garden will meet the walkway.  It will be huge on both sides!  It runs the full length of the front of the house and will eventually go down both sides.

It already looks better and so far I’ve only spent about $10 on seeds and dirt.   Most of my plants are in true cottage style and are cuttings from my mom’s and my grandmother’s flowers.    It’s a way of preserving our family and it’s gardening on the cheap!
