I’ve been keeping a secret (read it like you’re singing!). But the secret is out as of this morning’s newspaper! My daughter Becca and her best friend, Lindsey have been featured with a story done about them and about their bucket list by our local newspaper, the Salisbury Post!
It’s so cool! You must read the article! How in the world did all of this come about? The article tells how the idea of the bucket list came about but how did it get in the paper and how did they get interviewed by their best writer? I’ll tell you, it’s really neat.
Becca was helping at the hospital’s Asthma Camp with her brother and sister. A reporter was a the camp interviewing the director, campers and helpers for a story about the camp. The reporter interviewed Becca and when she asked her why she was doing this, Becca said it was a great way to give back (because she has asthma too) and because volunteering was on her bucket list.
That sparked a whole conversation about bucket lists. The reporter has one too! She thought it was really cool that two teens had one because it’s usually older people that have one. I told her afterwards that I bet anything that it would turn into a story because it’s just really cool what her and her friend are doing.
A few days later, she got the call…they wanted to do a story! It made the second front page above the fold and takes up 3/4 of the page and part of another page with 3 pics! If you want to check out their complete bucket list go to their blog at Thing 1 and Thing 2
They will be blogging all the way through their list. Should be tons of fun! I’m so proud of them!
That’s really great! I will be showing my 13 year old daughter this one!
