So I’ve been digging myself out of using the same old thing rut for awhile now and I’d thought I would start sharing with you the things I’ve been trying. This month I’m sharing my love for some products old and new and maybe one rediscovered. Are you in a product rut? I bet you’ve used the same products for years, like me. It’s time to try some new things ladies! So here we go!

I’ve always had a problem with my makeup disappearing. I’d carefully take my time and put on my makeup only to have it gone by lunch. Enter in primer. Where was this little wonder all my life? I’ve been trying several different primers over the past year or two and my daughter shared this one with me. Catrice is amazing! It is so smooth and makes my skin feel soft and it gets rid of fine lines and I think it helps with some of the redness I have acquired. Don’t you hate that redness? Me too! It really keeps my makeup on so much longer than any other primer I have tried to date. Not only does my makeup stay on longer, but it looks so much better too.

Next, let’s deal with that redness and pretty skin. E.L.F. Beauty Shield is a great introduction to the world of serums and skin antioxidants. It contains vitamin C, vitamin E, and pomegranate. Sounds like a fruit salad doesn’t it? It helps with fine lines, redness and skin brightening. It’s one of those things that I wasn’t sure if it was helping at first, it does take a couple of weeks to notice a difference, but when I skipped it for a few days, I could tell a difference. It does help with my redness and my skin looks and feels brighter and it seems to help with some discoloration. It’s great to try because it’s inexpensive, especially when you don’t want to shell out the big bucks.

Generic Value Products brands may not be new, but they are definitely worth a second look. For some reason, that I love by the way, my hair has started to get back it’s natural curl. I’ve had a hard time finding a product that holds the curl without weighing it down and being sticky or crunchy and holds the curl all day. Thanks to my daughter Becca, I rediscovered this product. If you let it dry on its own, it will be crunchy, but if you scrunch the curls after it dries, you lose the crunch but not the hold and style. I love it! My curls have never looked better! I use a quarter-size amount and rub it between my hands and then work it into my hair really good. Then either air

Speaking of hair, you need to protect it. This one is a brand new product for me. Yes, it’s been around for a little bit, but this is my first time trying it. I ran out of my Tresemme hair protectant the other week and couldn’t find it. My hair was so frizzy on the ends! Enter this one from Tresemme. Keratin Smooth is amazing! It’s a detangler, which is a must if you have long hair. It’s a heat protectant, which you should do every time you take heat to your hair, especially a blow dryer. It also is a

Next is another new product for me, Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist. My skin is extremely dry these days and we’ve had a very cold winter here and my skin has paid the price. I saw this on sale at Target and decided on a whim to give it a try. Sometimes whims turn out great! I have really liked this product. It contains all kinds of vitamins and special goodies for your skin that is dying of thirst. And you can use it in the morning and before bed and anytime your skin needs a spray of moisture. I typically use it first, then follow with my other skin care products. I’ve even done it a second time on top of my moisturizer at night to really lock in the moisture.
I’m so glad that I’ve started to try new products again. It’s like when you’re a teenager and you’re first starting to try makeup and beauty products. You just want to try everything! Especially now that I am over 40, it’s time to try new things. My skin may be changing a little, and I’m changing a little and what I need for my skin is changing too. Isn’t it time to try new things? I hope I’ve inspired you to try some new things too. What are some of your new favorites?
