Over the past week and going into next week, we’ll be getting ready for another year of school. For some bizarre reason, I have a sudden urge to clean and go through my entire home before we start school. It’s like when I was pregnant and the due date was really close and I’d get that nesting urge. Everything must be gone through, purged, cleaned, thrown out or given away. Then I do it for our school room. Desks must be cleaned out, notebooks re-organized and then when everything shines (I wish!) I can get to the business of planning out our school year. I make sure last year is closed out, unless we have a few things left, then start entering stuff for the new year in my planner. I just wish someone would explain to me how it is that I can go through everything we own and still have a house full of junk? It should look like Martha Stewart lives here, but it doesn’t. I guess when you get down to it, we still live here and not Martha. My youngest would just look at me and laugh saying, “O.C. D. much? hahaha! For some reason I just can’t function unless we do it. I’m sure I drive them crazy but I just can’t sit down and concentrate on the next school year unless we do it. So, what do you do before school starts?

I did exactly the same thing this year. I feel so much more relaxed knowing that I have everything out (or on it’s way out to sell at consignment). Lat year’s work is boxed up and in the attic. And all that is left staring at me is what I plan on using this year. I went through and organized all our supplies, too. I have been working on the rest of the house all summer, so it was just a matter of tying up loose ends out there:) It feels wonderful and I know our year will be so much smoother because of it! Have a great year!
I hope you have a wonderful school year! We finally got started yesterday. Thanks so much for stopping by!
