I am not/was not being compensated for this review. This review is my own opinion and I did not receive anything in return for it.

After last year’s surprise trip to Myrtle Beach for New Year’s, we’ve decided to try and make it a tradition. This year we got to stay a whole week! I didn’t realize how much I needed a vacation. I was more exhausted than I thought; this was a great way to recharge and relax.

Last year we stayed at Crown Reef Resort and Waterpark; (You can read my review and about our trip here) but they were closed for remodeling. So my husband booked us at Compass Cove Oceanfront Resort. There were lots of mixed reviews about this resort (full review coming soon). So I wasn’t sure what to expect, but we were optimistic. Honestly, we just wanted to get away for New Year’s.
Our trip started off a little rocky upon arrival at check-in. When we checked in our room wasn’t ready yet and unfortunately the staff had no idea when it would be ready. While we waited for our room to be ready, we decided that it was only a little hiccup. Since we were starving we decided to go to one of our favorite burger joints, Fuddrucker’s to eat supper and hopefully, our room would be ready soon. Surprise! It was prepared by the time we finished eating. It was so worth it to go to Fuddruckers! They make the buns in-house and they have a toppings bar for your burgers.
Since it was really cold this year, we didn’t get into the pools or hot tubs. But we did manage to squeeze in a super competitive game of checkers! It was so much fun! He totally kicked my butt.

I love my kids, my life, my friends, etc. But sometimes you just need to get away. We shopped like crazy which is my favorite pastime. We ate loads of fabulous food and just enjoyed being together. Most days we slept in which was incredible. We took some long walks on the beach and I took time to just sit on the balcony and listen to the ocean or read. The view was incredible!

If you’re visiting Myrtle Beach, there are two restaurants you should try. The first is a sports bar called Dagwoods. They have two locations and they have TV’s at each booth. But the food is the real reason to go here. It’s incredible! No Philly sandwich will ever live up to theirs. Everything is so fresh and they make a lot of the bread in-house. We loved it so much that we came back a second time! Can you tell I loved the ceilings in here? The whole place is just a cool vibe.

The next is Yamato’s at Broadway at the Beach. Yamato’s is usually very busy, but since it was New Year’s, we had to wait for only 10 minutes. It was delicious and probably the best Japanese food that I’ve had in years. Our chef was awesome and put on a great show! We even had great conversation at our table.

And of course, no visit is complete without a trip to The Crazy Mason. This place is the best for satisfying your sweet tooth. This is the “Don’t Worry Beach Happy” milkshake. And yes, I somehow ate all of it. It’s incredible! I’m so excited that we’re getting one in Charlotte!

And of course on New Year’s Eve, we headed to Broadway at the Beach for their fireworks show. Spectacular as always! This year it was really super foggy so my photos of the fireworks didn’t turn out great. But trust me, they were gorgeous.

We had a great time! It’s good to just reconnect as a couple. I love starting off the new year this way and can’t wait till next year!
