My hubby surprised me with a very romantic date night dinner reservation at The Epic Chophouse in Mooresville, NC. We’ve always wanted to go there, but it’s one of those fancy, expensive restaurants that we’ve always said one day we’ll go there. One day finally came!
Due to Covid, like everyone else, we really didn’t celebrate our last two anniversaries and it was our 30th and 31st. The 30th anniversary was a huge milestone and think he was a little bummed that we didn’t get celebrate it bigger. This year we’ve been married 32 years! That’s crazy!
Thankfully, he told me the surprise a few days in advance so I could have time to plan what I was going to wear. I decided to wear my black sleeveless dress, with my espadrilles. The nice thing about The Epic Chophouse is you can dress from casual to fancy. I decided I wanted to dress up. But since it’s insanely hot right now I wanted to be comfortable.
I was so excited and this place did not disappoint. It’s in an old brick building that was built in 1888 and was originally the Rankin Store, which sold fabric, feed, seed, and other things. It housed the first elevator built in the town and is now the restaurant. It has kept a lot of the charm with jazz music playing in the background.
The menu is huge and I started looking at it days in advance. I even surveyed my friends and family on Facebook for suggestions. Their reviews were great and they all said everything on the menu was amazing.
We started our dinner with their famous Chophouse Cheese Toast appetizer. I can see why they’re famous. They are absolutely yummy! It’s a luscious four-cheese spread broiled on a baguette.

Next was on to the main course! We both decided that since they are known for their steaks we both ordered their Petit Filet Mignon. I ordered mine with a salad and Yukon gold mashed potatoes. Todd ordered his with a loaded baked potato and grilled shrimp. Omg! The food did not disappoint. It was so good and more than I could possibly eat. We were so stuffed that we couldn’t even order dessert after all that food!

The desserts look incredible by the way! It was a great way to spend our 32nd anniversary. We’ll definitely be back. The atmosphere, music, and candlelight were so romantic, along, with the incredible food that it made the wait worth it.

A date night at Epic Chophouse is something that I highly recommend.

Bonus! I actually got my Todd to take a picture. He NEVER takes pictures! No posing! Just a super quick look at the camera and sort of smile. LOL 🙂 Happy Anniversary to us!
